On the first few days Disney mentions some of the various wildlife that live in this area. The ones that will probably stick out in your mind are armadillos and alligators. But I haven't seen any armadillos or alligators. Do you know what I have seen? Lizards.
These lizards are everywhere. On the trees, on the buildings, on the sidewalk, and in your apartment. Yes, that's right. The other night we had the displeasure of finding a lizard on the wall next to our front door. I didn't see it because my room is right next to this entrance, so if the front door is open, I can't see out.
We all panicked and screamed until we persuaded a guy walking by to rid our apartment of the reptile. And in case you were thinking they'd go easily, happy to get back to their natural habitat, you're wrong. The lizard is going to avoid eviction.
That brings us to this morning. Emily was up early to get ready for work, but I was still sleeping until I heard her call my name. It went a little something like this:
Me: (very sleepily) What?
Emily: There's a frog in here.
Emily: There's a huge frog on our door!
This immediately woke me up and all I could think of was that there was a huge bullfrog in our room. As it turned out, the white frog (yes, creepy white) was about the size of a golf ball, but still terrifying nonetheless. But do you know what's scarier than waking up to a frog on your door? Watching the frog go back into the area in front of the front door and losing him.
Emily, Angel, and I were panicking until I saw him hopping across the living room. He made it up onto the wall on the other side of the room until Angel caught him in a cup with a plate underneath. He also did not go easily.
Despite all of these lizards and frogs the animal that scares me the most are these, the turkey ducks.
